21st January

An inhuman incident took place in Bihar’s Motihari district where a 12 year old girl was allegedly raped and later murdered and set on fire by men involved in the act.

The 12 year old girl, who hailed from Nepal, lived in Kundwa Chainpur with her father, a night watchman, and mother for seven years.

On 21st January, when she was alone at home, four men gangraped her.

The four men decided to murder her and burn her to ashes in a field in East Champaran.

The burning of the body was to remove any evidence against the accused.

2nd February

An FIR was lodged by the victim’s father after he approached Sikrahana SDPO Shivenfra Kumar Anubhawi who is heading the SIT.

After the FIR was filed SP of East Champaran, Navin Chandra Jha, visited the place and inquired the locals about Siyaram Sah and Vinay Sah, Siyaram’s son, in Kundwa Chainpur, where the victim lived with her family on rent.

The samples were collected by the forensic team from Kundwa Chainpur and the field where the victim was cremated.

Soon after the incident took place the family of the victim approached the local police station for registering an FIR. The police refused to comply their FIR but finally the FIR, under pressure, was later registered on 2nd February against 11 people.

The family has alleged that four people were included in the gangrape and seven others helped them in cremation of the body. A special investigation team has been set up to catch the others, who are still out in public.

What’s happening now?

The SHO of Kundwa Chainpur, Sanjeev kumar Ranjan, is suspended and new SHO Mithilesh Kumar mentioned that two of the 11 accused have been arrested.

Meanwhile, relatives of the accused have met the SP at Motihari and alleged that the innocent people have been dragged into the case because of a land dispute.

A Viral Video!

SHO Sanjeev Kumar Ranjan, now suspended, can be heard in a viral audio clip directing the accused to get rid of the evidence and cremate her body.

Ramesh Sah, local leader, was instructed by Kundwa Chainpur police station SHO to dispose off the 12 year old’s body before her family goes to the police.

The clip went viral on 5th February and a separate enquiry has been initiated into the matter. An FIR would be registered against Ranjan if found involved in the rape and murder case.
