About 2 years ago, Mrs. Earth India, Diksha Chhabra, was a normal woman dealing with her work and raising a child. She weighed over 90kg and unable to look onto her body due to constant work pressure and household problems. She was living a totally unhealthy and stressful life.
But now, today she is widely known as Mrs. Earth India and an inspiration for thousands of women who are too struggling with their weight and health issues. Dikhsha Chhabra’s journey is full of hard work, dedication, and patience.
While her husband serving in the army, she raised her 5-year old kid all by her own working as an administrator at a school in Delhi. After seeing unusual changes in her body, she decided to get diagnosed by a Doctor. The doctor told her that she is suffering from hypothyroidism and PCOD (Polycystic Ovarian disease).
Dikhsha decided to maintain her diet and lifestyle but when one of her friends at the college reunion told her concern, she pushed herself totally out of the comfort zone.
After that, she quitted her job and decided to eat better and get physically fit. She put her entire focus on improving her physique. At the very first step, she bought a treadmill and made a super restrictive diet plan.
“I was shy to go out and work out. So I got a treadmill and started doing cardio at home.”, She said. Within about 8 months, she lost 18 kilograms. But she was not satisfied with the results. Then, she decided to do weightlifting to get in perfect shape and tighten the loose skin after the weight loss.
She started strength training and added non-vegetarian food to her diet like fish and chicken to get natural protein. She further lost 12 kilograms. She said about her family reaction over her weight loss, “Initially, they were surprised to see me switch to a non-vegetarian diet, but as they saw the results they were really happy.”
After a lot of hard work, she finally weighs a perfect 60 kilogram standing 5 ft 7 inches tall. She also gained thousands of followers on her Instagram during her journey of epic transformation.
Today, she is a fitness trainer, a nutritionist and an official coach with Decathlon. She also won Mrs. India Earth-runner up and got the title, Mrs. Earth India. As she said, “I’ve put in a lot of hard work into achieving this level of fitness and it has given me an immense sense of self-confidence.”
According to Dikhsha, self-love is very important. She said, “It’s our overall culture that’s to be blamed that Indian women don’t prioritize their health. Once a girl is married, she’s expected to give the highest preference to her kids and family. Her own health takes a backseat. But how can you take care of others when you yourself aren’t happy and healthy? You can’t pour from an empty jar.”
After achieving her goal of weight loss, Dikhsha feels motivated and wants to encourage women to take care of their health. As she said, “I want to break the contemporary Indian woman myth. I want to empower the women of today and help them embrace a healthy lifestyle!”
