New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Meenakshi Lekhi on Tuesday took a swipe at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal about the actions his government has taken to bring about transparency in the ration distribution process.
Ms. Lekhi criticized Kejriwal saying that he should stop keeping the people in the dark by continuously writing letters to the Centre…. Your name is Kejriwal, not Natwarlal thus referring to a legendary conman Natwarlal.
While mentioning that Kejriwal has been the CM of Delhi for more than five years, she questioned the number of licenses of ration shops that have been canceled by him, the number of people sent to jail and how many FIRs have been lodged and the actions taken by him other than writing letters to the Prime Minister. S
he also took a dig at him saying that if there have been not enough actions taken, then it is clear that he and his MLAs are part of the mafia.
Ms. Lekhi also said that the BJP party will welcome Mr. Kejriwal if the CM wants to formulate a ration distribution scheme for the people of Delhi on its own because the ration that is with CM is given to Delhi under Food Security Act.
Adding to the barrage of questions about the doorstep delivery of the ration, Ms. Lekhi asked about the source from where the ration was bought and also about the allocation in the Budget for the same. Which all households were identified as the beneficiaries and on what criteria?
Several leaders of the BJP called out the doorstep delivery of ration by the Delhi government a “scam”. In a press conference on Sunday, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra alleged that Delhi has zero Aadhar card authentication, as compared to the national average of 80 percent. This was because the Kejriwal government had earlier stopped the operation of POS machines that allow biometric verification.
