Adar Poonawalla Reveals Prices Of Covid-19 Vaccines For Private Market And Government

The Serum Institute of India’s and Bharat Biotech’s Covishield and Covaxin respectively have been granted emergency use authorization by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).

The process of vaccination is soon to be started in India since the approval of DGCI paved the way for the mass rollout of the vaccines in the Nation.

CEO of Serum Institute of India Adar Poonawalla has revealed the prices of the Covishield vaccine and announced that the company has decided to fix two different prices for the vaccine.

According to Poonawalla, the official vaccine will be given in to the government at ₹200. It will be available in the private market at ₹1,000.

The Serum Institute of India was approved for the emergency authorization of the vaccine under one condition that the shots will be given to the vulnerable Indian population first.

Poonawalla also mentioned that the company has been debarred from selling its vaccine on the private market. So currently, they can only give the vaccines to the Indian government.

Serum Institute of India has made 50 million doses of the Covishield vaccine and has the capacity of making 50 to 60 million doses a month.

The first 100 million shots will be injected at ₹200 per dose.

Dosage:

SEC, Subject Expert Committee, recommended the approval of the 2 full doses of the covid-19 vaccine which will be injected 4 to 6 weeks apart. The vaccine can be stored at temperatures between 2°C to 8°C.
