The Preamble of the Constitution of India:

Constituting India as a Sovereign, Socialist, Democratic and Secular country and secure all citizens, WE, The people of India have resolved the country to be the same.

The various requirements for its citizens’ security are:

JUSTICE: Be it Social, economic or political, all citizens can demand for justice.
LIBERTY: The citizens of the country are allowed to express their thoughts on expressions, believes, faith and worship.
EQUALITY: To promote a sense of status and opportunity, equality can be demanded.
FRATERNITY: Dignity of a person will help in integrity of unity of the country.

India turned out to be a Sovereign, secular, democratic republic after their citizens were granted various forms of justice, liberty, equality, and promote fraternity.

The county is now a successfully democratic and independent country after its citizens were secured.

The Constitution:

India is a country of riches and wealth that comes from its citizens who are always secured, under any circumstances. Dr. Bheem Rao Ambedkar Ji, an Indian who was a renowned social reformer, a jurist, and a politician is called the “Father of the Indian Constitution”.

Appointed as Chairman, on 29th August 1947, of the Constitution Drafting Committee, he is still regarded as the most literate man.

He drafted the Constitution of India which aims towards excellence of the country by bringing awareness to the Indian Constitution.

The year 2015 was marked as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Ji’s 150th birthday and the day was declared in favor of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on 11th October 2015 while laying the foundation stone of the Statue of Equality.

The Constitution was brought into effect on 26th January 1950 and was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 26th November 1949.


The auspicious day is celebrated as “Samvidhan Divas” and is celebrated each year, since 2015, honouring Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Ji and the Constituent Assembly for adopting the longest written constitution of any sovereign country.

Earlier this day was celebrated as Law Day for honouring the same. The Pledge of Purna Swaraj was passed on this day in the Lahore Session of the Congress in 1930.

The constitution of India is also called “Bag of Borrowings” after it borrowed several ideas from various other countries and the constitution of India is handwritten in Hindi and English!

Drafted between December 1946 to December 1949, this time period is considered as the most challenging period due to several religious riots, caste-based wars, and increased general inequality.

These reasons were solid enough to pose a threat to the Indian economy.

It took the minds of 389 members of the Constituent Assembly to draft the constitution in 2 years, 11 months, 17 days, and 11 sessions in a period of 165 days!
