While the nation struggles to grasp breath amidst the covid crisis, surprisingly positive news came from Madhya Pradesh’s Betul district.
A 104-year-old freedom fighter Birdhichand Ji Gothi, who had contributed to India’s independence against British rule, has recovered from COVID-19 in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul.
Shreyans Gothi said that his grandfather had tested positive for coronavirus on April 5th and was under home isolation. He was treated under the supervision of a doctor, who is also a family member. At present, he is still given oxygen for 2-3 hours per day.
His family members said that Birdhichand Ji lives by Mahatma Gandhi’s principle and was a true fighter in himself. He held on to his principles despite being jailed several times during the freedom war.
When asked about the ways in which he managed to defend covid and come out of it, Gothi Ji said that one should: Stay positive, smile, exercise, and have a balanced diet.
On Sunday, Madhya Pradesh recorded a single-day spike of 12,918 new cases taking the tally to 4,85,703. While 104 people died on a single day, the death count increased to 5,041.
For relief, the recovery count in the state touched 3,91,299 after 11,091 people were discharged in the last 24 hours, with only 89,363 active cases now, the official added.
The number of tests in Madhya Pradesh has crossed 73.97 lakh while 55,879 samples have been examined.
According to Health Ministry data, India on Sunday reported a record daily of 349,691 new active corona cases taking the total tally to 1,69,60,172. The number of Covid deaths rose to 192,311.
